Blue Ridge Cello Ensemble

Blue Ridge Cello Ensemble brings together the advanced teen-aged students of Community Cello Works, with occasional guests of all ages from within the studio and from the wider cello world.  The ensemble meets weekly to rehearse music of a wide range of styles – including improvisation – that it then brings to both private and public settings.  This ensemble is available for a professional fee, and also donates its service to good causes.  BRCE performances have included art openings, fundraising and charity events, church services, and public concerts.  Members of BRCE have traveled to present improvisation workshops for people of all ages.  BRCE was founded by Lisa Liske-Doorandish to provide her advanced pre-college students with a setting for honing their ensemble skills, enjoying each other’s working company and development of artistic ideas, and experiencing the pleasure of divers musical styles and the presentation of their work in public.  This ensemble also operates with the mission of bringing live music to corners of public life where it really should exist for everyone’s mutual enjoyment but has perhaps been forgotten or neglected in recent years as cultural trends have moved toward favoring recorded over live music and famous names over those we know in our own vicinity.
